WHO I AM

I grew up in a Christian home and surrendered my life to Jesus at an early age. Although I wandered from following Jesus during part of my teenage years, everything changed during my senior year of high school. At seventeen, I had a life-changing encounter with God that awakened a renewed passion to know Jesus and participate in what he was calling me into.

For nearly twelve years, I served as a worship and prayer leader in my home church here in Somerset, Kentucky. Then, in 2006, I sensed a clear invitation from the Father to establish a house of prayer. From that time until the end of 2022, I had the privilege of laboring alongside some incredible people to cultivate a place where worship and prayer were central and where people could discover their identity and grow in Christ. I am incredibly grateful for those sixteen years. They shaped me, stretched me, and helped form me into the person I am today.

At the beginning of 2023, I stepped into a new season. What began as a growing desire to write, speak, blog, and podcast has developed into a passion for helping people see the Father, Son, and Spirit through the person of Jesus.

Much of what I write and speak about comes from my own journey of questioning fear-based ideas about God and discovering a better story—one rooted in love, belonging, union, hope, and the finished work of Christ. I know what it’s like for deeply held beliefs to be challenged. I also know the freedom that can come when we’re willing to look again and allow Jesus to reshape the way we see God, ourselves, and the world around us. That’s really the heartbeat behind what I do.

I’m the author of Fascinated: Living in Awe of the Father and Leaving Fear Behind: Putting an End to End Time Fear. Whether through books, articles, conversations, podcasts, or speaking, my hope is simple: to help people become less afraid of God and more fascinated by him.

As for life outside of writing and ministry, I live in Somerset, Kentucky, with my beautiful wife, Misty. We have two children, Luke and Olivia, and our granddaughter, Harper Kate, has all of us completely smitten.

We love spending time together—summers on the lake, fall in the mountains, and winters celebrating our favorite holiday, Christmas. And if I’m not writing or spending time with family, there’s a pretty good chance I’d rather be on a golf course.

I’m an avid golfer and downright fanatic of the sport. It’s my home away from home.
